Hoang Hoa has a big population. There were lots of generations setting off from this district to protect our country against the American Empire. It’s understandable when the war ended that nearly 1000 victims have had to bear the consequence of the chemical poison (DIOXIN poison) by the American Empire used in the VN war. The Dioxin effect has deeply influenced the material and spiritual life of many families and their relatives . However, now the victims have been specially cared for by the Party and State but the material and spiritual life of many victim families are still so difficult and do need help from the community.
This is Ms Nguyen Thi Mai’s family in Hoang Trung commune . She used to be a youth volunteer in war. Her husband died and left 2 sons to her, one of which is paralytic and the other is foolish and dull. At the age of 60, her face expresses the disappointment at the future and anxiety when she becomes senile.
